New Student: Initial I-20
All international students (who do not have another valid visa that allows them to study in the U.S.) are required to obtain a Form 1-20, "Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status" from the school they plan to attend, before applying for an F-1 student visa from a U.S. embassy or consulate office. If you are applying for an I-20 for the first time, or you are applying for a new Initial I-20 with new SEVIS ID number, then you are considered an Initial student. To start a request for an Initial I-20, the student must first confirm their planned attendance to Marymount University by paying the deposit. They should then create their MU account.
Soon after the Admissions Office receives the student's deposit, the Office of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) will send an email invitation for the student to access the ISSS portal. Within the ISSS portal, the student will answer questions and upload required documents.
When requesting an Initial I-20 from Marymount University, the student will need to submit the following documents through the "Create I-20" request:
- Copy of passport (must be valid at least 6 months beyond your planned program start date)
- Declaration of Finances (signed by the student and individual funding sponsor, if any)
- Proof of Funding Documents (must meet requirements specified)
Transfer Student: Transfer SEVIS Record / I-20
International students who already have an I-20 and plan to transfer to Marymount University from another U.S. school are considered SEVIS Transfer-In students. To start a request for a Transfer-In I-20, the student must first confirm their planned attendance to Marymount University by paying the deposit. They should then create their MU account.Soon after the Admissions Office receives the student's deposit, the Office of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) will send an email invitation for the student to access the ISSS portal. Within the ISSS portal, the student will answer questions and upload required documents.
To request to transfer their SEVIS record, the student will need to submit two separate requests through the ISSS portal ("Create I-20" and "Transfer"). SEVIS Transfer-In students will need to submit the following documents:
- Copy of passport
- Declaration of Finances (signed by the student and individual funding sponsor, if any)
- Proof of Funding Documents (must meet requirements specified)
